The new Concordia coach
Aug
2005
For those of you who haven’t yet read about the recent hire at Concordia (Wis.), let me summarize.
The parentheses are important.
Wayne Rasumussen is returning to Concordia (Wis.).
He previously coached at Concordia (Wis.) for nine seasons.
His first college coaching job was as head coach at Concordia (Neb.) from 1980-83.
After two years as an assistant at Wisconsin Lutheran, he coached at Concordia-Austin.
He got his bachelor’s degree from Concordia (Fort Wayne, Ind.) in 1960. By the way, I think this is a new school to me.
He earned his master’s from Concordia (Ill.) in 1967.
I just hope he can keep it all straight.
And to the Concordias in Moorhead, Minn., Ann Arbor, Mich., and Bronxville, N.Y., if you ever need a coach, look up Wayne Rasmussen.

You forgot Concordia (TX)!

No. He already coached at Concordia-Austin. Try to keep up.

Pat, Coach C (and anyone else keen on Lutheran educational trivia):
Until the formation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod’s Concordia University System a number of years ago, Concordia/Ft. Wayne was known as Concordia Senior College, a two-year upper-division institution granting baccalaureate degrees in preparation for matriculation at one of the two Missouri Synod theological seminaries.
This campus now houses one of the seminaries mentioned above, relocated from Springfield, Illinois. The other one, the ‘flag-ship’ campus, remains in St. Louis.
Incidentally, don’t forget about Concordia (Irvine, California), Concordia (Portland, Oregon), and — perhaps everyone’s favorite — Concordia (Selma, Alabama).

What about the Concordia College in Brooklyn, NY and don’t forget St. Paul (MN) - - - didn’t see it listed.

Can’t believe I forgot about St. Paul, since I drive by it every time I’m back home, but Brooklyn I believe is just an extension campus of the one in Bronxville and does not have its own basketball team.

It is actually a NCAA DII. I wasn’t sure about that either but I did a little research and found they play in NYCAC and went 2-25 last year in hoops.

While Concordia-Bronxville may not be much in basketball, they do have a very nice campus in a leafy suburb of New York City. Perhaps they’d do much better by moving up to D3.
BTW their Web-site doesn’t mention anything about a branch campus in Brooklyn (unless I missed it).

Shuutr, same team. Check out the record on this page and the address of Bronxville, N.Y., at the bottom.

My fault - Bronxville is the one I was talking about. I looked at their site this morning and that is where I got the 2 - 25 record from. Anyhoo - too many Concordia’s if I say so!

It’s a veritable concordiance of concordias!
Okay, I’ll go back to D3football.com…

A regular cornucopia of Concordias if you will.

Given the tenor of this discussion, I suspect our Canadian cousins are more than passingly happy that their very own Concordia (in Montreal) has absolutely no connection to the plethora of Concordias in the Lower 48.

I’m not a tenor, I am a baritone.
