A little more than two months after UW-Oshkosh women’s coach Pam Ruder took the head coaching job at Southwestern, Oshkosh has finalists for the position, according to the Oshkosh Northwestern.

The finalists are Oshkosh West HS coach Terri Schumacher, Milwaukee Pius HS boys’ basketball coach Joel Claassen, DePauw women’s coach Kris Huffman and former UW-Oshkosh player and graduate assistant Trish Betthauser. Betthauser later was an assistant at Indiana.

Absent is assistant coach Kris Schoonover. She told the paper in June, “This came real quick. But yeah, I’ve been approached to take over the position.”

WOW!! Kris Huffman. She has consistently has a good team at DePauw. I am sure teams in the SCAC will be glad to see her wind up at Oshkosh. Personally, just looking at the list, I think she could be the favorite. The only one with D3 head coaching experience. She’s an experienced recruiter at this level, and will be a great choice.
